I know that I do not really want a tattoo. But I still love them. I think that they can be beautiful and meaningful and unique. If I could be smart enough to develop a semi-permanent tattoo, I’d do it. Imagine if you could have a tattoo that lasts for say, 5 years and then would fade away to nothing, like semi-permanent hair dye. That is the type of tattoo I would be able to get.
The permanency of tattoos is what scares me. I change my mind so much and I know myself well enough to know that I would regret most things I would put on my body permanently. One of the main reasons I most likely will never have a tattoo is that they are too easy to be used as identifiers. Say I was needing to be in the witness protection program, or needed to escape a situation and disappear forever, I would be too easily recognized. I don’t think I would like that.
(I know, these seem like silly reasons to never get a tattoo…)
